2026 Bike Season is Here

2026 Bike Season is Here

The 2026 bike season has officially arrived, and it’s already off to a strong start. This year, e-bikes are becoming more accessible than ever, with better pricing, improved technology, and smarter riding systems. Across the board, we’re seeing a big shift toward affordability, built-in anti-theft features, and dual sensor pedal assist systems that combine both torque and cadence for a smoother, more natural ride. At Derand Motorsports, with three locations across Ottawa in the west, central, and east end, it’s easier than ever for riders to find the perfect e-bike close to home without going out of their way.

EBIKE OF THE SEASON - Taubik Vista 26

One of the biggest highlights so far this season is the Taubik Vista 26, which has quickly become our top seller. We’ve already gone through an entire pallet of these bikes, and the snow has only just melted. The reason is simple — this bike delivers incredible value for the price. At $1,995, it offers everything most riders are looking for in a daily e-bike. It features a dual pedal assist system with both torque and cadence sensors, giving you a responsive and comfortable ride whether you’re cruising or commuting. With a 500W motor paired to a 720Wh battery, riders can expect up to 100km of range on lower assist levels. The step-through frame makes it easy to get on and off, and the external battery design keeps things simple when it comes to charging and removal. It’s the kind of bike that just works for everyday use, and that’s exactly why it’s moving so fast.

THE BIKE THAT DOES IT ALL - Aventon Level 4 ADV

For riders looking for something more advanced, the Aventon Level 4 ADV is one of the most exciting new releases this year. This bike is built for performance and control, bringing a completely different riding experience compared to traditional hub motor e-bikes. It features a Shimano CUES 10-speed drivetrain with integrated auto shifting, combined with Aventon’s adaptive pedal assist system that adjusts based on your cadence. The mid-drive motor system delivers power through the drivetrain, allowing the bike to use its gears more efficiently and generate more torque, especially when climbing hills or riding longer distances. Even though the motor is rated at 250W, it peaks at 750W, giving riders plenty of power when they need it.

Mid-Drive vs Rear Hub E-Bike: Which Motor Is Right for You?

Ebike Motors: Which is Best?

One of the most common questions we get in-store is about the difference between mid-drive and rear hub motors. The biggest advantage of a mid-drive system, like the one found on the Aventon Level 4 ADV, is that it works directly with the bike’s chain and gears. This means the motor can take advantage of your gearing, resulting in better efficiency, improved hill climbing, and a more natural riding feel overall. It’s a great option for riders who want more control over their ride, especially if they plan on tackling varied terrain or longer commutes.

In Summary

As we move further into 2026, it’s clear that e-bikes are continuing to evolve in the right direction. Riders no longer have to choose between affordability and performance, as many of the newest models are offering both. With better technology, smarter systems, and more rider-focused designs, there’s never been a better time to get into e-bikes. Whether you’re commuting through the city, riding along the Rideau Canal, or just getting out more on weekends, this season is shaping up to be one of the best yet.
